[rainy days are here to stay]

Another weekend of cool rainy days.... almost without fail, these few days have been characterized by a hot hot humid morning, followed by torrential rain and dark comfy afternoons. Although it got a bit 'cabin feverish' after 2 long long days - yup, they insist on waking up at 7am on weekends! - it was great weather to just laze around at home, making stuff, cooking and baking.
In view of the current economic climate, last week we put our house up on the market (falling prices and all that) Although a momentous decision, it was a fun few days redecorating and trying to see the place from an "outsider" point of view. Our living room now looks like a proper 'formal' living room, the girls' room has G's bed in it, the study is packed up and neat (ish) and the whole house looks and feels like a new home. It feels great to have the new layout, as it makes us use the house in very different ways. The girls now seldom venture into the living room, preferring their room which is where the toys are being kept. So, anybody who's interested in relocating to the North East of the island, do get in touch!

What else did we do... yup, we got down to making and baking the goodies that are going into G's goodie box. Here's some of the process shots:
Abstract shot of all the boxes
Magnets all done up
the completed goodie box :) i printed all the tags and G said it's "post! grace is 4!" heh..... then i explained to her that it's Psst... like when you're telling someone a secret, she said why does it need to be a secret! lol...... she's 1 happy girl, announcing to everybody that she's ALMOST 4, she'll be 4 in a week....
Step 1 of magnets - glue patterned paper (October Afternoon) onto magnet, cut to size. Adhere a tag (i used the diecut as a guage, but DIY cut the rest)
Diecut the scalloped tags (i used the sizzix bigshot and scallop tags die - available here)
Stamp your message onto the tag (used October Afternoon stamps)
Lastly, embellish with a diecut shape (used OA and BG diecuts)
All done!!! :)Recently was commissioned to create some altered alphas for a newlywed couple :)
Monograms for each of them...
Plus "H" for home for the house.
Finally, some plain shoes which i embellished with felt, fabric and buttons :)
O and couldn't resist taking a pic of those 'soon to be 4 yr old' shoulders!
